TROUBLESHOOTING NVIDIA SURROUND

*If you have not followed our guide for preparing for and installing ShowOne, please follow those steps first: HERE


**Please first verify that NVIDIA surround is causing the crash in question by disabling surround. If crashing persists without NVIDIA surround enabled, surround is not the cause.

Issue: Occasional crashing with the message (GPU has crashed or DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)


Possible Solution: Try to reduce the combined NVIDIA surround resolution.


  1. Open NVIDIA 3D Control Panel

  2. Under 3D Settings on the left, click on “Configure Surround, PhysX”


Issue: Frequent crashing with the message (GPU has crashed or DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)


Possible Solution: Set PhysX to CPU in NVIDIA Control Panel


  1. Open NVIDIA 3D Control Panel

  2. Under 3D Settings on the left, click on “Configure Surround, PhysX”

  3. On the right under PhysX Settings, please click on the dropdown and select CPU.


Issue: Occasional crashing with the message (GPU has crashed or DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)


Possible Solution: Set Power Management to Maximum Performance in NVIDIA Control Panel


  1. Open NVIDIA 3D Control Panel

  2. Under 3D Settings on the left, click on “Manage 3D settings”

  3. On the Global Settings tab, scroll down and click on the dropdown next to “Power management mode”

  4. Select “Prefer maximum performance”.


Issue: Occasional crashing with the message (GPU has crashed or DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)


Possible Solution: Disable Antialiasing in NVIDIA Control Panel


  1. Open NVIDIA 3D Control Panel

  2. Under 3D Settings on the left, click on “Manage 3D settings”

  3. On the Global Settings tab, scroll down and click on the dropdown next to “Antialiasing - Mode”

  4. Select “Off”.


Issue: Occasional crashing with the message (GPU has crashed or DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED)


Possible Solution: Disable Geforce Experience


  1. Right Click on Geforce Experience and select Run as administrator.

  2. Go to the General tab from the left panel and toggle off the “In-Game Overlay” or “Share” feature. 

  3. Press Apply to save the change and reboot the PC.

Possible Solution: Update TDR Key in RegEdit
